Italy’s ‘Path of Love’/ “Via Del Amore” reopens after 12 years

One of the most iconic and romantic roads in the world.

Italy’s ‘Via del Amore’ or Path of Love is known as one of the most iconic and romantic roads in the world. After being closed for a long time, the Italian authorities opened this road last Saturday. Italy’s Ministry of Tourism said last Friday that the route has been reopened after a long period of repairs and more than $24 million in new investments.

This road in Italy is made for breathtaking beauty. The length of the path is only 900 meters or 2 thousand 950 feet. On this way, there is an opportunity to see the extraordinary beauty of the sea. It is located between the two municipalities of Riomaggiore and Manarola in Italy. In 1997, UNESCO listed it as a World Heritage Site. However, in 2012, this road was closed due to a landslide. At that time, four Australian tourists were injured.

Italy’s tourism ministry said reopening the route was complicated. Because the path built around the mountain is very fragile. The municipality of Riomago is in charge of the management of this route as an open museum. From 27th July to 8th August this route is open only to Cinque Terre residents. This route will be opened for tourists from August 9. However, if you want to walk on this route, tourists have to pay a certain amount in advance. Tourists can be accompanied by a guide. 400 tourists can go on this route in one hour.
